Hi all,
Just signed up to this forum to see if someone can help me out
I've just upgraded from the Streetpilot 3 to the 2610
I got CNE v6 with the unit & I've just received CNE v7 Update CD
Tried to unlock it under the free update rule but Garmin are trying to charge me $176
Q1. Is this just me or have Garmin started charging for the first update?
Q2. I have reg'd both units on my old customer code & I've now sold the Streetpilot 3, is there a way of removing the 2610 from the registration?
<This portion was edited out as it contained an Unlock code.> |

I have edited out the Unlock code in the above message. Although I appreciate that this code will only allow maps to be downloaded to a unit registered to that code, it does still allow the map detail to be viewed on a pc, and therefore routes to be plotted and possibly transferred to a device without the maps.
Your problem appears to be that you've taken the option to register two units you own with one code. Really you should try and deregister the 2610 from that code, not the StreetPilot, since you no longer own the StreetPilot. You should then register the 2610 with the code that came with the software shipped with it, and you should then get your update to V7 for nothing, assuming you bought the 2610 after the 5th of January.

Yes, The code posted is only valid to myself but enables those who are thinking of upgrading to view the changes
I have tried using the code that came with the 2610 but it states its already been used with my current customer code |

The code is of use to others, though, in that they can use the new data to create waypoints, etc. They can see the coverage of the new data by visiting this page
http://www.garmin.com/cartography/mapSource/citynavEuro.jsp#
and using the map viewer option in the upper right hand corner.
I would get in touch with
support@garmin.com and see if they can shed any light on your problems. _________________ Tim |

The upgrade for the SPIII code is $176, whereas the SP2610 upgrade is free, so I think you will need to use the code that came with SP2610 rather than your old SPIII code. _________________ Gone fishing! |
