One bind about ordering directly from TomTom is that they wont give VAT invoices or deduct VAT for companies outside the Netherlands.
Doesnt make any difference for private buyers, but makes the product about 20% more expensive for companies. It also raises eyebrows when the accountants and tax people check the paperwork.
I asked TT for a VAT invoice, but they said they dont do it.
I bought my TTN software from a dealer just to avoid these problems, but then I got an old set of CDs that I had to mail back to TomTom for an update. There was no version number on the retail box, so you cant ask the dealer to order a fresh set. |

Actually this is slightly strange
If they sell direct to another EEC vat registered company they do not have to charge VAT (provided they have the companies VAT no.) if they are selling to a member of the public in another EEC country they have to charge dutch vat on the transaction (if software is vatable in the Netherlands).
In fact if their turnover is aver a certain amount with another EEC country they have register and charge that counrties vat on the sale!
Don't you just love single markey vat rules - still it keeps us bean counters happy - bollox I've admitted to being an accountant - no party invites for me! |

Ian, the very fact that you just had to post a reply gave it all away.
I held back.

I know it's a bummer - but since I've spent all day waiting for an email I thought I'd do some work!
Now who the hell can I bill!!! |
