PocketGPSWorld.com will join three thousand senior decision-makers at the leading telecoms congress and exhibition for the Middle East during the first week of September 2007.
On the 2nd of September telecoms operators, vendors, government officials and media from across the World will decend on the Emirate State of Dubai.
With product convergence on the lips of all in this sector and within the framework of a current Middle Eastern economic boom, 3GSM Dubai will incorporate, 170 exhibitors, 20+ panel sessions, 100+ leading industry speakers and workshops on a variety of topics... there should be enough going on to keep us very busy!
Well known for its business friendliness, dynamic Dubai continues to populate the headlines with dazzling new projects and initiatives at every turn. Often misunderstood as oil rich (petroleum and natural gas revenues contribute to less than 3% of the Dubai economy) it is also known as one of the few places in this region to enthusiastically welcome foreign direct investment - especially from its oil rich neighbours.
Offering highly successful economic zones that incorporate business and tax incentives, Dubai advertises itself as the centre of the Middle East economy. Sounds like the ideal destination for a bit of moving and shaking in the telecoms industry!
Companies in attendance include Nokia Networks, France Telecom, MobileCom, KPMG, Endemol and Vodafone flying in from countries as diverse as Afghanistan, Israel, Pakistan and Oman.
The Middle East and Gulf mobile market continues to grow steadily. According to Informa Telecoms & Media’s WCIS, 80 million subscriptions (March 2007) represent penetration levels close to 35%. Saudi Arabia commands the lion's share of the region with over 22 million subscriptions with Iran close on its heels with 18 million.
Even with rapid market expansion there is still huge scope for growth in the region. However that is not necessarily so for countries such as Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and UAE who have reached saturation point. That said, 2007 saw the demise of two of the region's monopolistic telecom systems following the UAE and Qatar announcements that they would open up their markets to second players.
It is confidently predicted that the attendees of 3GSM Dubai will be grabbing all remaining opportunities by the scruff of the neck! _________________ Robert Brady |
