Is there a quick way of uploading parts of maps to the PDA? For large parts it takes a long time over Active Synch and I would like to use a card writer. However MM does not seem to have any way of doing this. As each regions map is about 300MB, copying the whole map using explorer is a bit memory consuming. |

Yes you can use a card reader to copy your exported maps.
What you have to do is to connect your PDA using ActiveSync as normal and export the map region. Once the map has been extracted is is saved on the harddisk prior to being copied to the PDA.
If you abort the process when it has started copying tot he PDA you will have a mapdata file on you PC which you can then rename and copy to your storecard using the card reader.
You should find the files in something like c:/program files/memory-map/navigator/qct directory. If not do a search of your hard disk for *.qct and that will find them. _________________ Mike Barrett |

Thanks for that Mike. I have found that if I take the PDA out of the cradle the files are written the windows "Temp" directory and stay they until you click the the "OK" to acknowledge that the PDA cannot be found.
I believe the program should have the option in the PDA menu to send to folder or card writer. I feel the need for a larger SD card coming on. |

Rather than go for larger storecards as was my first intention I ended up having a number of 256Mb and 128MB cards.
This helps me manage my maps better and I have say the marine maps and a 250,000 overview map on on card, Lakedistrict on another etc.
I also have these copied off onto a hierarchical structure on my PC so that I can clear a storecard and quickly load the maps I want without having to reexport them again. _________________ Mike Barrett |
