Hi,
I just receive my e800 with the 303MMF CF GPS.
The problem is that the GPS take long (looooonnng) time to find satellite.
This week-end I tried 3-4 and it takes about 1 hour to find satellites.
This morning I tried on the way to the office but the I was at destination before he find anything (55mins).
I use TT3 (configured with HOLUX 270CF).
When I start TT3GPS the GPS is flashing once that all.
Is this normal, what is the usual delay ?
I buy this GPS also for daily use (POI flash camera) so, if it takes so long to setup it is a problem.
Many thanks
Stdu

Does the GPS only take so long when you use TomTom or is it the same when you use the utilities like WinFast or VirtualGPSCe ?
What are your Port settings?

I only test it with TT3.
I just downloaded WinFast and I will try it this evening.
For TT3 I configure it as Holux 270 CF and the port is the GENERIC_CF.
Many thanks

You could try "Haicom GPS" (or, if you switch the GPS to SiRF mode, the appropriate SiRF option) instead - but I doubt the setting will make any difference.

Two possibilities come to mind. Firstly, your Toshiba may be emitting a load of RF noise that's affecting the GPS - I find my HI-303MMF doesn't work at all well in a PC Card slot on a laptop I have here because of this. If I put the GPS in my iPAQ, where it works perfectly, and bring the iPAQ near to the laptop when the laptop is switched on, I find the number of satellites locked plummets, and the GPS usually loses location lock.

The second possibility is that something in your in-car environment is causing problems - such as a coated windscreen, or simply a poor view of the sky from your chosen location. It's easy to check this - do you get a lock any faster outside the car?

Assuming that the HI-303MMF's internal supercap isn't nearly flat (which takes 4-5 days and can leave it with a garbage starter position that it takes a while to figure out is garbage), you should get a lock within a minute most times. If you want to help it, tap and hold on the TomTom map near where you are, and choose "Reset GPS for this location".

Thanks but I think the problem was coming from the GSP itself.
I changed to a BT GPS and now everything is ok, in 2 mins he had a fix.
Many thanks again
