Have just rang SE and had quite a heated conversation. As expected I got the usual line. "We don't support 3rd party devices". I even asked if they had any BT issues even connecting to their own products, and they even denied that there had been any problems with the earlier versions. They knew nothing about the O2 recall on handsets either.
I also asked what happens if TT say the issue is with your product, and you say it the TT product. How does it get resolved. Got the we don't support 3rd devices line again. :x
There appears to be no way to get them to take notice. I did ask if they log all calls which apparently they do, so if anyone else wishes to give it a try you can contact them on 08705237237. Maybe if enough people raise the issue someone at SE will do something about it.
I suppose we just have to hope that TT pick up the issue and try and resolve it with SE.
It also begs the question will TT actually keep up with all the new manufacturers handsets or will they just stick with the handsets they currently list. |

Hopefully enough people will buy new SE phones for someone to have to do something about it. I still believe if TomTom put a "universal" bluetooth logo on the front of their box, it should work with all bluetooth phones. I have a 2 year old Jabra bluetooth headset that my sony V600i works perfectly well with. Why not the TomTom, surely putting voice and sound through the Jabra should be the same as the TomTom? |

Hope the above is still true, however I raised this question with TT on the 11th July.
Quote: | I'm trying to connect a SonyEricsson K750i with a TOMTOM GO 500. The phones connects OK. When a call is made or received via the TomTom the call connects but there is no speech in either direction. I have spoken to SonyEricsson and they tell me that the K750i uses Bluetooth V2. Can you tell me if the TOMTOM supports this. FYI I have tried a K700i which works fine. I would be grateful for any information that you can supply. E.g Are TOMTOM working on anything to support the K750i.

Received this response this morning.
I'm not holding my breathe. |

Hi all,
Yes I am having the same problem. I have a SE W800i with T-mobile in the USA, along with a TomTom Go 700.
They pair without problems.
I can dial a phone number from the TomTom without problems.
I can download the phone book into my TomTom without problems.
HOWEVER...
After establishing a call, I cannot get any audio on the TomTom, nor can they hear me.
With the W800i, once in a call you can hit the "More" option button, and then select "Transfer sound" option to send audio to the TomTom. However, even after doing this I get absolutely no sound. Worse, after selecting "Transfer Sound" the w800i is unable to re-establish a link with the TomTom ... not sure if the problem is with SE or TomTom.
I did find the email address of the TomTom USA President: Jocelyn.Vigreux@tomtom.com
I suggest we all email him and ask for help in resolving this issue, as TomTom support has never gotten back to me!
Here was what Sony-Ericsson has to say. Looks like the W800i support BT2 and maybe that's why we are having compatibility issues:
-----------------------------------------------------
Thank you for contacting Sony Ericsson Online Support.
There is no information in regards with the compatibility between Sony Ericsson
products and third-party products such as the TomTom Go 700. If you would like,
we recommend contacting TomTom to inquire if they are able to provide further
information on the compatibility between the TomTom Go 700 and the W800i.
We have provided the following Bluetooth specifications for the W800i to help
determine if the TomTom Go 700 Bluetooth specifications are similar. The W800i
is manufactured to meet Bluetooth Specification 2.0.
The following are the Bluetooth services supported:
- Dial-up Networking Profile
- Generic Access Profile
- Generic Object Exchange Profile Headset Profile
- Object Push Profile
- Serial Port Profile
- Synchronization Profile
- Basic Imaging Profile
- Handsfree Profile
- Headset Profile
- File Transfer Profile
- Human Interface Device (HID) Profile
If we can be of any assistance in the future please do not hesitate to call one
of our representatives at 1-866-SONY-ERICSSON(1-866-766-9374).
Best regards,
Jim

AND HERE WAS TOMTOM'S REPLY:
Bluetooth coding within each Bluetooth stack is different between devices and manufactures. Because of these differences, not all Bluetooth devices are compatible to connect to any other device using Bluetooth. The engineers in Amsterdam have tested this devices and it is not compatible. There are no specifics as to why. If you want a phone that is compatible, please stick to the compatibility list here: http://www.tomtom.com/products/section.php?ID=77&Section=107&Language=4. These are phones that are compatible and can support if you were to run into any configuration problems. If you have any further questions, please contact us.
Kind Regards,
TomTom USA Customer Service |
