I have seeen your latest compatibility list ( axim x3 ) in previous post.

Seems doesn't work with dell axim x3i+.
The gps info didsn't show me the the nmea sentences when I click start.
The available port com is COM7: MANF-0501-CARDID, that driver gave.
The Led light is Red blinking.

What should I do ?

Can you help me Sean ? , I'm really frustrating on it . Sad Sad

Before i really lose my rag with this thing can somebody tell me how to get it to work with my Ipaq 2210 and Tomtom 3. I can get the GPS working alright but it won't communicate with Tomtom, it just locks the whole thing.

The two boxes to select your GPS:
- the top one has some well known makes
- the bottom one has the port (the GPS shows up as SDGPS fine
- what goes in the top one? i have tried the suggestions on other forums but nothing works

Someone please help?

Thanks

Mellis

I certainly have but it just sits there and does nothing. Also, interestingly it doesn't actually allow me to tick the box, rather it flashes once but won't actually let me check the box!

How quickly should it pick up the GPS?

We haven't tested the device with the Dell Axim X3i, but the following is certainly true of other Dell models...

Dell Axim X3 Pocket PC uses the 1 bit driver (SDGPS1bit.exe)
Dell Axim X30 Pocket PC uses the 4 bit driver (SDGPS4bit.exe)

Download the 4bit SD-501 driver from Globalsat here...

http://www.globalsat.com.tw/system/download/SDGPS4bit.zip

Download the 1bit SD-501 driver from Globalsat here...

http://www.globalsat.com.tw/system/download/SDGPS1bit.zip

If you read the post by "fl-run" at the beginning of this thread, you will see that he also installed the latest SDIO driver from HP and got all working fine.
Go to the following link to find that particular driver from HP...

http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/HandheldiPAQ/us/download/20674.html

I trust this will now see your GPS device going to good use.

I have already installed the HP SDIO fix, without it i couldn't get the GPS to work at all. I have tried them all but it just seems that the GPS won't allow itself to be detected by Tomtom!!! Crying or Very sad

mellis, this may be an obvious question, but have you tried doing soft reset and failing that a hard reset (if this is an option)

Joy!!!!!!!!!!11 :P :P :P :P :P

Right then, the soft or hard reset didnt work! What you have to do is "Stop the GPS" in the SD501 software and forget about that, i have even uninstalled it. Then select NMEA 4800 v2 and robert's your fathers brother!

Praise the lord.

Thanks for all your help D2, we got there in the end!!

PostPosted: Sat Mar 12, 2005 12:44 am    Post subject: SD-501 (X-Trac) SDIO GPS in XDA II using TomTom Navigator Reply with quote

I recently bought SD-501 (X-Trac) SDIO GPS receiver and I want to use it with O2 XDA II which has 64MB base memory/RAM and 128SDRAM. I want to buy TomTom Navigation software which takes more than 100MB space to store application SW plus UK maps on XDA II.

I have seen compatibility list where Mike mentioned that SD-501 (X-Trac) SDIO GPS receiver is compatible with XDA II. Now I have following two questions to Mike:

1. How you can install TomTom when SD slot is occupied by SD-501 (X-Trac) SDIO GPS with just 64MB base memory in XDA II instead of SDRAM which provides extra storage media of 128MB (or more if higher size SD RAM card is installed).

2. Which alternate software (like TomTom) you may have used to test the XDA II compatibility ?

Your earliest reply will highly be appreciated.

Many thanks.

Dear Sean,

Thx for your advice on previous post. It's already working with installin sgps 1 bit driver.

But the problem now is, that it doesn't work or compatible with ozi ce 3.952. already check the same port (com 6) but still "error" in communicating... the message is "err" on top right corner of ozi.

any solution for that ?

thx in advance

Rafael

A GPS is compatible if it works with a particular device. However, on devices with only one memory slot, taking the only memory slot for GPS hardware probably makes street navigation software like TomTom Navigator 3 unusable.

You'd get a far more flexible setup using another type of GPS with your XDA II - but if you insist on using the SDIO GPS, you'll have to live with whatever maps fit into main memory.

You must use OziExplorerCE Development Version.

I have hp2210 (rom 1.10 and SDIO driver updated) and SD-501 (X-Trac) SDIO GPS receiver. It's not working together at all.

After hard reset I have only installed: hp SDIO driver update, SDGPS4bit.exe (SDIO-driver), and GPSInfo application. The most interesting thing is that new COM-port (MANF-0501-CARDID-F501-FUNC-1) has not appeared after SDGPS4bit.exe installation.

I think i now the problem: even after hard-reset almost all COM-port (COM-1, COM-2, COM-3, COM-4, COM-5, COM-6, COM-8 and COM-9) are preinstalled (visible throw ComKiller utility). Maybe SD-501 driver simply can't allocate free COM port... But COM-port-killing has had no effect.

Maybe my GPS device is broken... When i dock it into SD-slot LED remains blank (not lighting). Is it ok?

Please somebody with same combination (hp2210 + SD-501) reply to me. I want to try some trick: if you make Backup of your system configuration (by IPAQ backup utility) i can try to restore from your backup.

Sorry for my english.
