Oh God somebody please help..I've downloaded the database, and dragged the unzipped file onto the TomTom file in my documents, then loaded everything into the tomtom sd card via usb, but I'm getting no notification that anythings been installed. Have I done this right, this is so frustrating, any chance of a basic, basic 'how to'.
I have the speed camera typed into my POI and get the coloured markers, but now what...please help I'm useless with computers.
Thanks in advance for helping a 'newbie'
Cheers Daz |

Thanks Tomcat It was reading all this thats let confusion set in.
On the Tomtom bit it says download ov2 files (where are these?) maybe i've d/loaded the wrong stuff.....hell I think I may have to leave it or an early grave for me... :x
The zipped file downloaded had about 15 seperate files including pictures, I unzipped this then dragged it onto the Tomtom file for transfer via the 'back-up/restore from pc function, it all went in, but now what..

Not sure, but I suspect that you may have dragged the files into the wrong folder and confused things.
Are you still with the 128 Mb card that came with TTG?
Did you delete some voices to make room?
What software version are you running? |

Hi yes I'm still running the original 128 sd card that came with the kit, but I have deleted all voice languages except 'English Jane' I'm on Windows XP.
I have printed off the official TTG help page and the 'Idiots' guide on here, which differ but I STILL cannot execute this apparently 'simple' task.
The folders I open, open up into many sub folders, then once finding the GB maps I find I cannot drag or cut and paste onto this folder for reasons beyond me.
I was thrilled when I saw there was speedcamera downloads for the TTO, but it has left me feeling sick to my stomach.. I have lost all my favourites and recent destinations after finally getting the Go to rebootHelp me please!!! |

I meant which version of TomTom software are you using. 4.21 or 4.40 or 4.42.
If you are using 4.21, which is the version that came on mine, you will have to upgrade to 4.40 if you want to use your own Poi's. |

You can't use backup/restore to transfer the extra poi databases to your SD. You have to copy the database to your map folder manually.
you should have on your SD:
Folder Great-Britain-Map
Great-Britain.mid
Great-Britain.pna
Great-Britain.mms
cline.dat
cname.dat
cnode.dat
faces.dat
mapinfo.dat
poi.dat
and also in this same folder the extra POI databases:
pocketgps_uk_gatso.ov2
pocketgps_uk_gatso.bmp
|
|
*.ov2
*.bmp
and in the root of the SD:
system
ttsystem
data.chk
data05.chk (Jane)
You should have no subfolders on your SD.
But you can off course also use your cd-rom to create the correct SD. |

Apologies for the somewhat 'abusive' tone above. I've since been on this 5 hrs today, I have the gatso, red light and specs ov2 files and their bmp pictures 'dropped' over the Great Britain map file and they are in there, but I cannot get the sequence right to load them into the GO...will they not go in if there is no space left on the card or will it tell me?
I dont know if I'm ONE click away from completing this impossible task, or still a million miles away.
I've had to reload the original GB map and the latest 4.42 version 4 times today because I dont know whats happening to the maps as I fumble about...
Help is GENUINELY appreciated honestly...x |
