I experienced this as well, but not constantly. Sometimes I reset the TTGo, after I experience strange behaviours. In 4.40 I also noticed sometime a slow startup of the sat's on different occasions.

I did not test it, but the TTGo should work as you request. Just switch off the sound, but you would still be able to hear POI alarms.

When you upload OV2 files to the TTG, without 'connected' bitmaps (16x16 pixels), TTGO in default gives you a red square, as a personal POI warning signal.

Look at www.flitspaal.nu for the dutch .ov2 files for speedcams. In return I would like to know more about the internal structure of either the ASC or the ov2 format.
