Hi, I've just bought an Acer n35 with Destinator 3 . I have used the console to put the European maps on my sd card, but when I try to switch maps I get a message saying map is not registered. I've activated the device but I can't seem to find how to register a map! I've tried Destinators site, but that doesn't help. Trying to do it on my pda via Activesync just seems to re-register the Acer. The User manual doesn't offer any other ideas. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I bought the whole kit second hand, but unregistered (I was told).
I wait in breathless anticipation...............

Just remembered - When I installed Destinator console it said I had an older version on my pda, did I want to update/upgrade to a later version? I installed the maps after this. Could this have caused a problem? (say no!)

You probably have the single country licence key (UK & Ireland). Other areas need another licence key. Here is part of the reply I received from Destinator Support when I asked them about other countries licence keys. (01.11.2007)
"Your licensekey is a single country license for UK & Ireland only. Destinator 3 licensekeys for further countries are not available anymore.
In order to be able to use more up to date maps. You can order an upgrade for Destinator 6."
So you are either stuck with what you have or need to upgrade - I've decided to stick with TomTom for use abroad. |

Thanks for that. It's what I suspected and you've confirmed it. I visit Spain pretty frequently, which is why I hoped the Destinator maps could be used. Shame, but like you I have now installed Tomtom for Europe.Out of curiosity (only) what do Destinator charge for version 6 maps?

Dont know the official price but available on fleabay.
Must admit Tomtom is much better all round so I for one will not be spending any money upgrading to version 6. |
