When you read this look to your left. On the screen you will see a heading Speed Cameras and beloe that "How tos". Click on that and have a read - it should tell you everything you need.
Now there's a funny thing - I thought they were SAFETY cameras
A little further up on the left you'll find (under "GPS Central") the link to "UK Safety Cameras" - there's a brief mention about camera installation on a Palm there...it's brief because there really isn't much to say about it.
Your most difficult problem will be choosing the right .ov2 file sets to install.
The October camera database has a folder called "ov2 bmp files" which contains a single .ov2 and accompanying .bmp file for each camera type (gatso, specs, mobile, redlight and temporary cameras, plus a continental file). Alternatively, for absolute simplicity, there is a single file version (in a folder of that name) which has everything all lumped into one big file.
If you prefer, there is another folder called 'speed zoned' which contains the same data overall as the single files above, but sub-divided into speed zones with different .bmps for each zone and type. If you choose this option, don't forget to grab the redlight and temp files from the other folder on your way out, since they are not duplicated in the zoned files (and the continental one too if you need it).
To install, simply drop all your chosen .ov2 and accompanying .bmp files into your map folder on your SD card.
In Tomtom, you should then find all your newly loaded POIs listed. Use the 'Manage POI' option in the Tomtom 'Change Preferences' menu to enable/disable them, and to set warnings etc...
If you want different alert sound files to match the speed zones...well, that's a different story. Search and ye shall find...
Oh, and a word of caution to finish - unless 5.201 has fixed it, you'll notice a sharp slowdown of the screen refresh rate if you enable custom POIs. I have mine disabled, so they show up only when I come within the warning distance.
